[Reviews] Megadeth - Megadeth

Megadeth - Megadeth

"Megadeth" is Megadeth's 17th studio album. It was released just few days ago on 23. January 2026 and according to Dave Mustaine's words that is band's last final studio album. It contain 10 new songs and additionally "Ride The Lightning" - cover of Metallica's second album's title track. "", promo single of new album, still stays at Stef Metal Chart . Here are some swntances from other reviews of "Megadeth".

"So it comes to pass - the final Megadeth studio album is here. It might not be the first time we’ve heard Megadeth was ending (having previously disbanded in 2002) but Dave Mustaine has confirmed that this self-titled album is their final studio project, with many years of a ‘final tour’ to follow. The expectations are therefore impossibly high. The quality of the current Megadeth lineup is undeniable, as Mustaine has consistently surrounded himself with great players. Do they have the juice to recall the classic (...)
The singles so far are a fair indication of the LP’s direction. ‘Tipping Point’ and ‘Let There Be Shred’ are fast and hard with killer solos(...)
To answer the questions I posed in the intro: Megadeth doesn’t hit the heights of the classic but is a reasonable attempt to reignite the lightning.(...)"
Wall of Sound 7/10
"(...)There are certainties in life: Birth, Death & that signature Megadeth Sound – throw on So Far, So Good… So What! Youthanasia, Risk – I could run through their entire catalogue and it’s there instantly, in droves.(...)
The album opens with the hard-hitting 'Tipping Point' which was also the bands choice of first single which is not only full of intent but has an absolute plethora of thrash tones which is then followed up with the defiant 'I Don’t Care' which for me is the first head turning moment as it’s such an earworm(...)"
Metal Planet Music 9/10
"(...) Heavy metal bands rarely know when to quit.(...) but Dave Mustaine (...) has clearly decided that there is greater value in pulling the plug when his band is still vital and relevant.
(...) One last album, one last extensive tour, over and out. (...) To balance out the bad news, Megadeth have kindly made one of their strongest albums of the 21st century.(...)"
Louder 4/5
"You’d have gotten great odds that Megadeth wouldn’t end in celebration. In April 1983, Metallica shook newly exiled bandmate Dave Mustaine out of a drunken slumber, handed him a bus ticket home, (...) By 2019, it seemed cancer might do what Mustaine’s addictions couldn’t, but it’s seven-years later and we still hear the sneer.
The self-titled, final Megadeth album might close with a return to 'Ride The Lightning', but it isn’t so much about closure as survival.(...)
Instead of going out with a nuclear bang, Megadeth serves lean sides that won’t clog the final tour’s setlists. Few people, including Mustaine, would have gone into this project thinking of creating a late-era Megadeth (much less thrash) classic, so the priorities seem to be speed, shades of classic riffs, and those familiar, gnashed-teeth vocals. From the start, the taut riffs betray the idea there’s a second guitarist (Teemu Mäntysaari) in the mix(...)"
